For those of you following our daily #ACROVINYASA challenge, here is how it went down in September, linking all asanas into one continual flow. In case you're wondering where has the baby bump gone, we recorded all of our sequences pre-pregnancy, so that we could still show you how it all flows. The vid is obviously sped up to fit it all into 1min, but we recommend you take 2-3 breaths in each posture before transitioning to the next one. Hope you had a lot of fun and worked with a spotter when learning new transitions. Check out @ACROVINYASA for tutorials and spotting videos. Time to step it up a notch in October!👊🏼 .

Oh the good old hyperextension!🤓 This seems to be a big topic in the world of yoga alignment and since my elbows like to extend past 180°, I (Claudine) feel qualified to share my observations. Can't tell you how many opposing theories I've heard about this. The insistence that there is only one right way to do something, and thus all other ways are wrong is never a wise approach. In other words, never is never right and always is always wrong. To most people, hyperextended elbows, knees or shoulders, simply look wrong. But basing our judgments only on visual aesthetics is obviously very short sided. . Hyperextension is a slippery term. There are two very different uses of the term. It's generally used to describe a limb that is extended past the 180° line. The term is also used medically to describe a joint that has been taken past its normal range of motion, resulting in damage to the tissues around the joint – ligaments, tendons and the capsule itself. . The usual advice is to micro bend the joint, but that's often easier said than done. For example, it is a lot easier to add a micro bend to hyperextended elbows in Down Dog than in Side Plank. It's interesting to see several examples of even B.K.S. Iyengar clearly hyperextending his elbows and locking out in a number of asana illustrations in his book Light on Yoga. . So here is what we recommend to our students… Hyperextending is not necessarily incorrect or dangerous. It is very relative and it requires an individually tailored approach. Of course we wouldn't recommend it to practitioners who experience discomfort, pain or past injury – if it hurts, don't do it! For others however, why not? If you feel strong, safe and stable, let yourself go to where your body allows you to go. This may be the only way you can "stress" that joint enough to make it stronger and healthier. Don't deprive yourself of that just because of aesthetics. Obviously, when building strength using heavy loads or ballistic movements, you may have to back off, but the dogmatic approach that insists that no one should ever hyperextend or lock out their elbows is pretty ignorant in our opinion. 😉 YOUR THOUGHTS? . "There is an extremely powerful force that, so far, science has not found a formal explanation to. It is a force that includes and governs all others. This universal force is #LOVE. When scientists looked for a unified theory of the universe they forgot the most powerful unseen force. Love is Light, that enlightens those who give and receive it. Love is gravity, because it makes people feel attracted to others. Love is power, because it multiplies the best we have, and allows humanity not to be extinguished in their blind selfishness. Love unfolds and reveals. For love we live and die. Love is God and God is Love. This force explains everything and gives meaning to life. This is the variable that we have ignored for too long, maybe because we are afraid of love because it is the only energy in the universe that man has not learned to drive at will. . After the failure of humanity in the use and control of the other forces of the universe that have turned against us, it is urgent that we nourish ourselves with another kind of energy. If we want our species to survive, if we are to find meaning in life, if we want to save the world and every sentient being that inhabits it, love is the one and only answer. Perhaps we are not yet ready to make a bomb of love, a device powerful enough to entirely destroy the hate, selfishness and greed that devastate the planet. However, each individual carries within them a small but powerful generator of love whose energy is waiting to be released. When we learn to give and receive this universal energy, we will have affirmed that love conquers all, is able to transcend everything and anything, because love is the quintessence of life." ~Albert Einstein . #Whistler @WanderlustFest Paintbrush: @TribalMarkers Lens: @LyleHawthorne Apparel: @AloYoga
